Thanks to the unprecedented circumstances surrounding the coronavirus pandemic, a throwback attraction that got its start in the Garden State is enjoying a resurgence in popularity: the drive-in movie theater.

In addition to the state’s lone permanent venue, the Delsea Drive-In in Vineland, a couple pop-up sites are poised to deliver some vintage-style entertainment as families look for safe entertainment options. Following is a breakdown of the drive-in movie theater locations in New Jersey as well as movie times and dates:

Boxcar will include nights for local bands and rent parking out to food trucks. The food trucks can make their menus available on phone apps for no contact ordering. The food brought to cars old car hop style. Bring in port a pottys that are changed out nightly and install hand sanitizer stands. Virtually little infrastructure needed.

Join us for a free discussion on New Jersey Nature Photography!
April 30, 2019
7-9PM
449 Halsey Road
Parsippany, NJ 07054

Dave Blinder will give insight into landscape photography techniques and camera settings he used to capture all 21 of New Jersey’s counties. Time will be given for Q&A and there are free handouts with information on parks and nature areas throughout New Jersey.

Dave’s exhibit “Landscapes of New Jersey” is on display now until the end of April at the Main Parsippany Library.

Despite being the most populous state in the USA, New Jersey contains a great deal of ecological diversity. We have beautiful natural ocean beaches, mountainous rocky outcrops, wildlife-laden marshes and the Pinelands National Reserve. Natural areas are important to maintain drinking water quality, house our native wildlife, and for our own much needed recreation. Dave Blinder is a Morris County native and a professional photographer. He is a board member of Protect Our Wetlands, Water, and Woods. Dave is also a land steward to the Troy Meadows Nature Preserve in Parsippany.

Naturalist Mike Leone will lead a 2 hour walk in Jonathan’s Woods to discover the hidden secrets of the forest by slowing down and taking a closer look at the plants and animals that inhabit this temperate mixed deciduous woodland. We will also look for signs of how the ecosystem has been altered by early settlers and grazing livestock. Prior to arrival of European settlers, Native Americans occupied these forests and searched for edible plants, nuts, fruits, mushrooms and medicinal herbs. We’ll see how many of these native plants we can find while looking for nesting birds, mammals and other surprises. All ages welcome! Some areas we explore may be wet, muddy or rocky. Wear sturdy hiking shoes; bring your camera, binoculars and water. Dress appropriately for the weather as we will go rain or shine.
