The Morris County Board of County Commissioners presented Distinguished Military Service Medals to 13 veterans at the Morris County Annual Memorial Day Observance ceremony at the historic county courthouse in #Morristown.
Join Debbie Naha-Koretzky, “The Wild Edibles Lady,” for a foraging adventure to discover the edible plants found in our area. A slideshow/discussion will be followed by a plant ID walk. Enjoy a wild tea tasting and take home a few recipes. The program will cover plant identification, safety, look-alike plants, sustainable harvesting, cooking with wild plants and nutrition. Copies of her book, Foraging Pennsylvania and New Jersey, will be available for purchase.
Just because many birds have left for the winter doesn’t mean there aren’t still lots of birds to see! Start indoors to view the activity at our feeders before we head out on the trails to see which intrepid birds have decided to stick it out in NJ. Bring binoculars or borrow ours.

#Chatham do you know the back story of Tayfun Selen? Tayfun Selen is the epitome of the American Dream. He immigrated to the U.S.A. in 1996. He did not have any money. He did not speak English. Through hard work and determination, he became an American citizen, a husband, a father, and our Morris County Commissioner.
IRS tax law-certified volunteers will review all documents and communicate through video chat or by phone for the entire process, which includes clarifying or obtaining additional information, reviewing the return, completing it, and filing it electronically.
Once all documents are uploaded, returns will be prepared for completion within seven to 10 business days.

February 7: Skulls and Bones – No bones about it, vertebrates have interesting skeletons! Compare yours to other species in this class. Examine real mammal, reptile, and bird skulls, looking for clues as to who they belong to. We’ll also take a close look at the kinds of teeth that mammals have as we munch on apple slices and carrots to test out how they work.

March 6: Be Bear Aware – Black bears are NJ’s largest land animal, found in every county. But there are so many misconceptions about them! Discover the secrets to their success in our state, practice what to do if you see one, play a game to simulate how they live, and take a walk on the trails looking for signs of bears.
Learn how to identify and tap maple trees, collect sap, and make real maple syrup over a wood-fired evaporator. Finish with a syrup taste test! This program will be held entirely outdoors, so dress for the weather. Syrup will be available for purchase, while supplies last.
Join a woodland gathering around a campfire under the glowing full moon to experience the historical and ceremonial aspects of the winter solstice. Bundle up to listen to storytellers and enjoy hot cider and roasted marshmallows.
