Wednesday, May 31: Spring Delights – Join us for a walk through of the gardens of what was once called Whippany Farm, including the Cottage and Rose gardens. Meet by the main Parking Lot kiosk.
Tuesday, June 13: Elegance in Roses – Discover the tips and tricks of growing roses, including pests, pathogens, and pruning, on a stroll through Mrs. Sara Ballantine Frelinghuysen’s beloved rose garden. Meet by the Mansion.
Peter H.B. Frelinghuysen, grandfather of Congressman Frelinghuysen, bought farm property back in 1914. This farm consisted both of Dairy Cattle and Greenhouses. Whippany River Farm produced the finest herds of Jersey dairy cattle in the U.S.A. The Dairy Cattle line were National Champions.
The gems of the past that we cherish today, the farm gave us the Morris Museum, municipal playgrounds, Frelinghuysen Park and the Frelinghuysen Arboretum!
William Barrett, of Bill Barrett Custom Knives, will lead a beginner blacksmithing class. The class will focus on basic blacksmithing technique. Prior experience will be helpful but not necessary. All supplies will be provided and participants will work on a project that they can take home. Space is limited, so register now!
Friday, April 14: Egg to Chick – Visit with the newest additions to the farm: baby chicks! Learn how they hatch, read a story, and make a craft to take home.
Join a WW1 Doughboy for a guided tour through the Willows. Explore the impact of the conflict on the Foster family, the workers, Morris County and the world.
“Doughboy” was a nickname for the troops of General John Pershing’s American Expeditionary Forces, who traversed the Atlantic to join war weary Allied armies fighting on the Western Front in World War I.
IRS tax law-certified volunteers will review all documents and communicate through video chat or by phone for the entire process, which includes clarifying or obtaining additional information, reviewing the return, completing it, and filing it electronically.
Once all documents are uploaded, returns will be prepared for completion within seven to 10 business days.
