St. Francis Fall Festival

October 5, 2014• 10am-5pm

This is the fourth annual St. Francis Fall Festival, a one-day charity event to benefit the St. Francis Residential Community.  St. Francis Residential Community is a ministry of the Sisters of the Sorrowful Mother that provides unique and affordable options for senior living in a dignified and beautiful setting.

The St. Francis Fall Festival is a family oriented and traditional day of fall fun.  For many years, Denville hosted the former St. Clare’s Harvest Festival at the same location – a former working farm with barns and fields providing a picturesque backdrop. Since the Harvest Festival event ended the demand for a fun, family oriented autumn event has been met.  We expect significant turnout again this year.

Denville is a lovely old-fashioned town located in the center of affluent Morris County.  The town is filled with quaint shops, cozy restaurants, and spas.  The event draws people directly from three bordering counties as well as New York and Pennsylvania.  We are planning an enjoyable high quality experience for the whole family, including German Food, Beer Garden, 50/50 tickets, rides, games and many other crowd drawing events.  Admission and parking is free.  Our thorough advertising provides coverage in many newspapers, storefronts, cable TV, radio, Internet and flyers along the busy road intersections.

The Dog Show: The Art of Our Canine Companions

September 12 through December 14, 2014

Celebrating dogs in art from the nineteenth century to the present with a focus on British and American artists, this exhibition examines works of art in which the dog takes center
stage: demonstrating the performance of hounds and sporting dogs working in the field; showcasing specific characteristics of a breed as depicted in pure-bred portraits; and highlighting pet portraits that portray the dog in its domestic environment. The exhibition features original oil paintings, works on paper, bronze sculptures, decorative art, trophies, and canine accessories. More than 100 works will be on view that capture the talent and diversity of canine artists, and also showcase the many breeds that are recognized in America and England, ranging from sporting hounds to pampered pooches. William Secord, a recognized expert on dog painting, has served as an advisor for the show.
