It’s time for a haircut! Visit Fosterfields and watch master shearer, Margaret Quinn, demonstrate how to properly shear a sheep, the old-fashioned way. Timed entries throughout day. This event is Rain or Shine.
In this in-person class, young arrangers will create a centerpiece perfect for Mother’s Day. Greens, container and decorations supplied. Attendees should bring one bouquet of flowers.
Monday, May 2: Darling Dahlias – Learn to grow the National Flower of Mexico — the dahlia. Young green thumbs will propogate from both seed and tubers and discover which grows faster, and maybe better.
Monday, June 6: A Rose is a Rose. Which plant sometimes has a great scent, but more often has prickles and grows hips? The rose! Learn about this plant which is one of the oldest plants cultivated by humand and learn to grow one on your own.

Just in time for Valentine’s Day! Use your own supermarket flowers to create a knock-out bouquet to give to your special Valentine. Ann Fahey, Superintendent of Horticulture Education, will lead this hands-on, virtual class. We supply greens and container and you supply the flowers.

Saturday, January 15: Decorative Stenciling Workshop – All ages.
Explore the art of decorative stenciling in this workshop! Discover what stenciling was used for and use paint to create your own stencil art work. Please wear older clothes, as we will be working with paint. No experience necessary, all supplies provided.

Celebrate Valentines Day by creating your own Victorian valentine! Using pressed flowers, Victorian stickers, and other supplies, impress your loved one with this festive craft! No experience necessary, all supplies provided.
Saturday, February 19: Natural Dyeing with Flowers and Bugs – Adults.
Come dye with us! Learn how to create natural dyes using flowers and bugs. Everyone gets to take swatches home at the end of program. Please wear older clothes, as the dyes are permanent. No experience necessary, all supplies provided.
Saturday, March 5: Artisan Soap Making – Adults.
Create your own custom soap blend in this workshop! Learn how soap is made and then craft your own to bring home. No experience necessary, all supplies provided.
Virtually join Horticultural Staff members and learn the tips of the trade in making a green centerpiece perfect for the holiday table. Greens and mechanics will be provided prior to class but feel free to supplement with your own extra greens, decorations, and more.
